Salmon Poke Bowl Recipes

Poke bowls are Hawaiian dishes that usually consist of fresh fish or seafood that’s been marinated, rice, veggies, and a sauce. “Poke” means to cut something, so it literally means that the raw fish, typically marinated, is chopped and served with veggies, rice, and sauce.

While the dish is normally prepared with raw seafood (raw tuna is the most common option, but options like raw salmon, or similar raw seafood also work), since becoming popular all over the world, people started adapting the dish to their liking, so you can now find tofu poke bowls, or even chicken poke bowls (cooked chicken, not raw, of course). While those options aren’t traditional, they’re a great way to try out the poke bowl while fitting your diet plan.

Salmon is one of my favorite protein sources to use in poke bowls. It’s nutritious, very healthy, and easy to prepare, and its delicate flavor goes with almost anything, so it’s easy to tailor the dish to your liking by using different veggies (green onion, cabbage, carrot, avocado, cucumber, etc.), sauces (sriracha sauce, peanut sauce, etc.), and even different forms of rice (white rice, brown rice, cauliflower rice, sushi rice, etc.). You can also top your bowl with toasted sesame seeds or regular sesame seeds, or red pepper flakes, depending on what you like.

As salmon poke bowls allow you to enjoy the versatility of salmon and experiment with different ingredients that go well with it, in this post I’ll be sharing some delicious salmon poke bowl recipes you can try out.

5 Salmon Poke Bowl Recipes

Some of the recipes will be using raw, sushi-grade salmon (which is a great way to eat raw salmon if you want to try it), and some will be using smoked salmon, as I like that variation and it’s great for those who want to enjoy salmon but don’t want it to be completely raw. You’ll even find options for cooked salmon – while it’s not traditional, some people don’t like raw or smoked salmon, but still want to try this type of dish, so it’s a great way for them to get familiar with it.

If you’ll be using raw salmon, make sure to find high-quality sushi-grade salmon, so you’re sure it’s safe to eat raw. Using sushi-grade fish is very important when consuming it raw.
